How do we feel about eye creams?

Let's talk about eye creams. With many off the shelf recognised beauty brands promising to diminish wrinkles, do we read these words and get sucked in?

If like me you have, and also have a bathroom cabinet full of similar products that are part used, as we see no improvement, then we really need to know a bit more about eye creams.

Firstly, the skin around our eyes is delicate and thinner than on the rest of our face. Hydration is key to maintaining a youthful, plumped, refreshed appearance and this doesn't stop at drinking 6- 8 glasses of water per day, it must also come in our eye cream.

As important as our SPF, eye creams should be used from the age of around 18-20, and is often an area that is over looked until we start to notice crow's feet (probably in our late 20's early 30's).

So, what do we need to look out for? Active ingredients to start off with, Peptides, Ceramides, Niacinamide, Hyaluronic Acid, AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) and either Vitamin C or Vitamin E and I don't mean just ONE of these ingredients either!

Without getting all technical with you, I'll give my honest advice.

Is it better to use any eye cream rather than skip this area - YES!

Buy the best you can afford, a skin or aesthetic clinic will provide scientific manufactured active ingredient products much stronger than shop bought brands, e.g Retinol of 1% > can only be prescribed, so products claiming 2% retinol are miss- informing.

Think hydration, as this will give the appearance of smooth skin and help plump out any fine lines, this will also help with dark circles and puffiness, it wont irradicate these completely but will certainly help in the appearance of them.

Our go to eye creams (and we've tried a few!)

ALLSKINMED Advanced Anti-wrinkle eye contour, this blush coloured cream gel is lightweight and a lifesaver for tired looking eyes, with soft-focus microspheres that give instant lumionosity, with a number of active regenerative and hydrating ingredients, plus peptides to help reduce puffiness and dark circles.

TEOXANE RII Eyes a RHA eye contour for wrinkles, dark circles and puffiness this contains a resilient hyaluronic acid, and a cocktail of amino acids, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. It comes with a slanted metallic applicator that cools and refreshes the eye area too.

Both products are available in our clinic and on our on-line shop.
