What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are injectable substances containing hyaluronic acid. Fillers are used for softening lines, build volume and restore lost facial contours. Hyaluronic acid is naturally broken down by the body, so the treatment is temporary and safe. The effects can last from 6-18 months according to the type of filler used and the site injected.
The procedure and products we use
We only use well established, or FDA approved dermal fillers that combine naturally with the superficial and deeper layers of the skin. These include Teoxane®, Restylane® and Juvaderm®. The product is administered by our Level 7 qualified Aesthetic Practitioner, Dr Andy Taylor. The procedure usually takes 30-45 minutes to complete depending on the area injected. Results are often almost immediate and usually improve over time.
Risks and side effects
You will likely experience some minor swelling which usually improves within a few hours and resolves within 2-3 days. It is also common to feel the filler for a few days after the injection.
The most common side effect is bruising. Although the procedure is considered very safe, we strongly recommend you refer to the ACE group information leaflet before contemplating any treatment.
Please note that treatments are unlikely to be given on the day of consultation to allow you to decide whether this is the right decision for you.
Downtime and aftercare
There is almost no recovery time. Patients may feel some minor pain and discomfort but can return to day-to-day activities immediately.
