LIP FILLERS
What are lip fillers?
Lip fillers contain specially formulated hyaluronic acid which is present naturally in the lips. Lip fillers are used to contour the lip, provide volume and shape and improve hydration. Hyaluronic acid is naturally broken down by the body, so the treatment is temporary and safe. The effects can last up to 6 months.
The procedure
The product is administered by our Level 7 qualified Aesthetic Practitioner, Dr Andy Taylor. Before the injection, the area will cleaned and a numbing cream applied which takes around 20 minutes to be fully effective. Alternatively, you can have your lips numbed with a local anaesthetic injection. The procedure usually takes 30-45 minutes and the results are usually immediate and usually improve over time. The procedure and products we use
We only use FDA approved and well-established lip fillers. These include Teoxane®, Restylane® and Juvaderm®.
Risks and side effects
It is likely that you will experience some minor swelling which usually improves within a few hours and resolves within 2-3 days. It is also common to feel the filler for a few days after the injection.
Common side effects include bruising and although the procedure is considered very safe, we strongly recommend you refer to the ACE group information leaflet before contemplating any treatment.
Please note that treatments are unlikely to be given on the day of consultation to allow you to decide whether this is the right decision for you.
Downtime and aftercare
There is almost no recovery time. Patients may feel some minor pain and discomfort but can return to day-to-day activities immediately.
